Substitutes

Requirements:

  • 60 College Credits 
  • Substitute License fee
  • Fingerprints

The process can take 3-6 weeks to receive your Substitute License. 

To apply for a Substitute License, you will need to create an OPAL account and submit your electronic application and supporting documentation to the Nevada Department of Education.

If you have any questions regarding the licensing process please contact the Nevada Department of Education at 775-687-9115 or by email- license@doe.nv.gov

Once you've received a copy of your substitute license, please visit the LCSD Office (450 E 6th St, Battle Mountain, NV 89820) to receive an application to be added to the sub list.

Lander County Pay 

  • Certified Sub (60 Credits) - $170 per day
  • Emergency Sub - $150 per day
  • Instructional Aide Sub - $150 per day
  • Custodial Sub - $20 per hour
  • Temporary Summer Help - $20 per hour
  • Food Service Sub - $16.50 per hour

Effective 2025-2026 school year

** In addition to this rate of pay, we also reimburse the cost of getting your sub license (about $160) after you have subbed your first day.   On top of that - we also pay an employee $100 finder's fee if they recommend someone who becomes a sub for us.
