    Battle Mountain Junior High School (BMJH) is a comprehensive, two-year junior high school with an enrollment of 210 students.  BMJH has a strong academic program that ensures each student is provided with many opportunities for academic success.  With fifteen professional staff members and five classified employees, students are afforded opportunities to succeed, receive special help and develop individual responsibility for themselves, their school and their community. BMJH also fields strong extra-curricular programs to broaden its students’ experiences. 
    BMJH has outstanding programs for students of varying abilities. Our professional, caring staff provides educational programs for the learning disabled as well as for accelerated learners. The elective offerings allow eighth grade students to enroll in classes that suit their interests and talents.
    BMJH has an open campus and parents are always encouraged to visit the school. Special effort is made to keep parents informed of students’ progress, activities and special events. The following links will assist you in learning more about BMJH and what we have to offer:

Description:     Battle Mountain Junior High (BMJH) is a public school for students in grades 7th and 8th.

Faculty:    Total professional staff: Fourteen all holding B.A., or B.S. degrees with 35% holding an advanced degree.

Students:    BMJH student/teacher ratio is 18:1
    The average class size is 21:1

School Year:    The year is divided into 2 semesters of 18 weeks, each with a nine-week grading period.

Curriculum:    All students take the same core curriculum:
·    English
·    Social Studies
·    Science
·    Math
·    Physical Education
·    Computers
·    Reading (7th)
·    Band/Choir Elective
·    Electives (8th)

Extracurricular: 60% of students participate in at least one extracurricular activity including   
girl’s and boy’s basketball, volleyball, wrestling, track, peer mediators,  computer club, reader’s club, drill team, cheerleading, yearbook, and tutoring.
